BRAND IDENTITY

This eco-conscious gin brand brings ocean-inspired storytelling and thoughtfully designed ready-to-drink cocktails. While many spirits prioritize packaging and flavor alone, this brand is built around sustainability, transparency and measureable contributions to ocean restoration.

Aurowa is a fluid, alive, and coastal brand, combining clean typography, fish- and ocean-inspired visuals, and sustainably produced packaging crafted from locally sourced botanicals. My goal in this project was to learn the best practices for designing packaging, as well as design a visual identity that feels fluid, hand-touched and high quality.
DESIGN EXPLORATION

In the concept phase of this packaging design, the visual inspiration draws from watercolor and organic hand-drawn illustrations, connecting to the locally sourced hand-picked botanicals and Aurowa’s connection to coastal environments and ocean sustainability. Unlike rigid or digital illustration styles, watercolor feels alive and human, aligning with the brand’s values of care, balance, and intentional craft.

The hand-painted fish and wave-like patterns move across the packaging, creating a sense of motion and exploration while emphasizing locally harvested botanicals and responsible production. Gin is infused with these botanicals, and juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, and kelp are visible within the illustration, framing the logo which mimics waves.

PROCESS

Molly introduced me to real-world design processes in packaging design.
I considered dielines and ordered a real bottle to apply the label to, taking note of the typography’s size. I began by creating a brand brief, highlighting core themes of the brand, target audience, key pain points, and other essential details for building the brands identity and designing. After, I conducted a competitor analysis, researching gin brands similar to my concept that emphasized ocean conservation or similar themes.
